πŸ™I COUNT MY BLESSINGS!πŸ™

🎢 Count your blessings name them one by one.

Count your blessings see what God has done.

Count your blessings, name them one by one

And it will surprise you what the Lord has done🎢

Do you happen to know this song? If so, have you ever pondered on the lyrics and act on it?

It’s sad how we despise God’s blessings because other expectations aren’t yet met. The truth is nothing matters in life more than life itself.

Isaiah reiterated this…

Isaiah 38
[18] For the grave cannot praise thee, death cannot celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.
19] The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day: the father to the children shall make known thy truth.

I once asked someone who was grumbling over a ” bad day ” this question: Instead of a “bad day” “would you rather have no day at all?

Jesus rebuked our prioritizing what we wear more than life itself.

Matthew 6:25 KJV
[25] Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

… Including food. It takes life for food to be relevant not vice versa. Our soul is more vital to God than things we get.

Life means opportunity, another chance, it means salvation is possible, miracles are possible, fellowship is available …, only life guarantees these! A thankful heart knows this.

In the cold realities of life can emerge complexities. Whilst some are seeking the fruit of the womb, for others, the challenge they have are their kids. To some they need a wife. For others, that’s exactly what their problem is; their wives are all the trouble they have. It goes on and on…

Shame on the murmurer; he doesn’t think deeply. He grumbles at life’s challenges, he “curses” life without saying it. He despises God’s greatest blessing.

The truth is we can’t pray, trust God and His power and still grumble, despising His blessings. This is because the Christ life plants contentment in us.

1 Timothy 6
[6] But godliness with contentment is great gain.
8] And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.

We are yet blessed, despite what we don’t have yet.

True, midnight hours aren’t good times: You probably lost your job, your debts are rising, creditors getting awry, things getting worse even as you are encouraging others. Yet, you can’t murmur. There are blessings to count, and be thankful for even as you expect more.

It’s interesting to note that Jesus’s two most notable miracles were done amidst thanksgiving despite the untoward situations: Supplying abundance of bread in the desert and raising Lazarus from the dead after 4 days.

There are things to be grateful for, friends to be thankful for, family to rejoice for, things yes, things you look at, your church, pastors, colleagues at work, good health, life itself!

Next time the spirit of murmuring wants to descend upon your soul, look around and count your blessings, one by one and you will be amazed how Much the Lord Has Done!

In less than 10 hours, I’ll be adding another year. That funny part of me would like to look back and think about the things I haven’t achieved (and should have achieved) all the years gone by; to rue the many life opportunities I have carelessly allowed to pass me by… But no, I’m not going to give it a shot. Rather, I’m going to be grateful and give thanks: for the gift of life, for salvation, for the blessings of a loving family and wonderful friends, for the victories won, for the benefits I presently enjoy and greater things God has in store for me!

” Little things you (the Lord) do for me……are great things.”

  1. Amen πŸ™πŸΏ. We all need this reminder. It’s easy to sing the song but when we are faced with reality, we must apply that in which we have learned. I am grateful for everything. I’m alive and that for me, is a testimony in itself. See, are we still counting down? I know I am πŸ™ŒπŸΏπŸ˜Š

  2. Smiles. Finally seeing your pre-birthday post. πŸ™ˆ

Yes, that we have life is such a blessing. So many folks have died in recent time and some have it all (money, affluence etc) but then as the saying goes “when there is life there is hope”. And gracefully our hope isn’t just any kind of hope, its hope in the greatest being ever!. πŸ’―

The night times are good times though. For people like me that love the quiet. πŸ˜‚

Happy Birthday IBK. Share it all – to my base please. Thank you. πŸ€—

  3. Little is much when God is in it. I was reading Luke 12 this morning and it shows us that we can’t do anything without God. Even the very hair of our heads are numbered. To have life is a blessing God didn’t make us to be an animal but has chosen to make us in His image and likeness. Good posting

  4. Very true, we should always have a heart of Thanksgiving. Although every thing is not always right, it’s also not always wrong and there is always something to be thankful for. I remember that song very well!

    1. Spot on! There is always something to be thankful for. In much gratitude to God, we are mindful of the things he has done in the past and hopeful/assured of what he will yet do. If he did it before, he’ll do it again.

My people say that it’s he who has mouth that eats, it he who has life that can can have whatever he scrambles for. A dead person has no recall of whatever we seek to have. So thanks to God for life. Even if I think I don’t have anything, I should look at the life in me and glorify God for it.
    Thanks for this post.

  7. How I have missed soooo much on this space 😭😭

I hope it isn’t too late to wish you a happy belated birthday though.

And yes, I’m so counting my blessings, the ones seen and yet unseen from now and even in the new year.
